Ceiling Sensors

These are ceiling-mounted devices used to track personnel and equipment in non-patient rooms. Also known as nodes.

Ceiling sensors are POE; multiple ceiling sensors may be powered via one drop.

Ceiling Senors POE Splitter Replacement (Existing SyncTimes Ceiling Sensors)

Step 1: Open adjacent ceiling tile.

Step 2: Unplug the POE splitter from the ethernet patch cable.

Step 3: Unplug the micro USB from the ceiling sensor itself.

Step 4: Plug in the new micro USB from the POE splitter into the ceiling sensor through the hole in the panel.

Step 5: Plug ethernet patch cable into the POE splitter.

Step 6: Lights should indicate that the POE splitter is powered on (either one or both of the lights needs to be on to show that it is working).

Step 7: Make sure the ceiling senor is locked back into the blue backing and then replace ceiling tile. Make sure the LED on the ceiling sensor is on, indicating that it is receiving power.

Troubleshooting Tips:

• Any time you see the ceiling sensor light blink 10x fast, it means the ceiling sensor is too far from a gateway, but it is powered and picking up the beacons.

• If the LED is off, the power is the problem.

• If it doesn't blink when a beacon is nearby, it's not picking up the beacon. It could be a beacon, ceiling sensor, or lighting problem.
